Chandler Farm on Rt. 10 near Reid's Ferry
Nansemond County Confederate Reunion at the home of Lum and Caroline Thompson (later home of R.O. and Grace Thompson Chandler) on the Smithfield Road in 1903. This house later burned, possibly in the 1920s.

House on Shackley Hill farm - located on the Nansemond River. Rumor had it that a liquor still was located in a barn near the house, and the pipe for the smoke ran underground to connect with the chimney in the house. The river was close behind the house. The Garner and Knight families once lived here.
