Circa 1970 a home owned by P.D. Pruden was sold to a Mr. Brewer who converted it into a store. Mr. Brewer operated it for a short period followed by John Duck for about six months and then Jimmy and Maxine Ainsley. It was closed and in 1976 Linwood Owens bought the store and opened Owens’ Self Service with a BBQ business on the side. In 2010 Linwood sold the business, less the property, to Carole and Mike Joslin who now operate the business as Joslin’s. This is possibly the last “country store” still in operation in the area. Linwood and Ann Owens were once again running the store in 2013.
